Tommy Leonard
While backpacking around Australia in 1990 Tommy discovered the folk world in Albany WA thanks to Greg Hastings, who set up a 'pop-up' folk club at Albany backpackers and invited everyone to sing a couple of songs.
After migrating to Australia in 1993, encouraged by Jenny and Noel Law, Tommy helped re-establish The Maleny Folk Club. For several years he also hosted the Blackall Range Folk Club in Landsborough.
In 1997 he recorded a CD of Don Henderson songs, "A Gentle Breeze", and in 1999, following a nervous breakdown, recorded a CD of original songs, "Spiral Of Change".
Tommy has sung and played guitar at local folk clubs, festivals, funerals, birthdays, weddings and other special occasions in the Maleny region, with occasional ventures further afield, Drawing on the inspiration of troubadours past and present, he weaves a tapestry of melodies and lyrics tailored to each performance.
